Signature dish – Chilli Crab

Endless spreads of iconic local dishes – from chilli crab to fish head curry – will be on offer at affordable prices all across the island at carnivals and heritage food trails during the month.

While there, visitors can join culinary classes to learn to spice up meals with local ingredients, or just eat their way through the Hawkers Markets.

Signature dish – Fish Head Curry

The 10 local favorites to sample include Hainanese chicken rice (Singapore choice comfort food), laksa rice noodles, satay (peanut gravy), fried carrot cake (made with radish, the white carrot), fish head curry, hard-shell crabs, Bak kut teh (spicy pork ribs), Roti prata (pancake), Rojak fruit & veggie salad, and Char kwy teow noodles. These signature dishes are best eaten in picturesque areas, of course.

What makes Singapore unique? Is it the blend of diverse cultures, traditions and lifestyles? Or the city/country’s unbridled energy and fascinating contrasts, diverse attractions and captivating ancient, old and ultra modern buildings?

I’m going to go, see and taste on a 48-hour whirlwind, which I’m sure will leave me beyond words. – The Rainbow Rambler.
